Ardonagh secures $2.5bn equity investment from Stone Point Capital at $14bn valuation

The Ardonagh Group secured a $2.5bn equity investment led by Stone Point Capital, valuing the company at $14bn. Stone Point now holds a significant stake in Ardonagh, joining existing shareholders like Madison Dearborn Partners and HPS Investment Partners. The transaction was first announced in December 2024, with Ardonagh growing into a global broking group, placing $18bn of premiums annually.
Ardonagh completed 68 acquisitions in the past year, including merging with Markerstudy’s personal lines business and taking private PSC Insurance Group in Australia. CEO David Ross expressed pride in Stone Point’s investment as a strong endorsement of Ardonagh’s unique proposition and track record. The group’s capital structure was recently simplified through a refinancing in February 2025.
Stone Point co-CEO Jim Carey expressed excitement in partnering with Ardonagh, praising the company’s leading position in the global insurance distribution industry. The success of the co-investment process with Ardonagh, Madison Dearborn Partners, HPS, and ADIA reflects confidence in Ardonagh’s continued growth potential. Ardonagh also launched an initiative in March 2025 to integrate machine learning and data enrichment into its operations.
