Microsoft is cutting its workforce by up to 4%, or around 9,000 jobs, as the tech giant invests heavily in artificial intelligence. The company had 228,000 full-time employees as of June 2024. CEO Andy Jassy of Amazon also announced job cuts due to AI advancements. Microsoft stock remained stable.

Investors are monitoring US labor market stability amid tariff uncertainty. ADP reported private employers lost 33,000 jobs in June, the first monthly decline since March 2023. Microsoft’s shift to AI is expected to reduce job roles. Amazon’s CEO predicts fewer jobs as AI replaces traditional roles, requiring new skills.
