Stocks rise after President Trump announces trade deal with Vietnam

Stocks rose on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 hitting a new record high. The Nasdaq climbed 0.9% to 20,375.72, while the S&P 500 gained 0.3% to 6,215.54. However, the Dow dipped 0.1% to 44,447.62. President Trump announced a trade deal with Vietnam, which includes tariffs on goods sent to the U.S. and total market access for the U.S. in Vietnam. Initially, stocks fell after a report showed private sector employment in the U.S. fell by 33,000 jobs in June, contrary to expectations of a 95,000 job increase. Steel and semiconductor stocks surged, while utilities stocks declined. Overseas, Asian markets were mixed, and European markets had a mixed close. Treasury yields rose.
