GE Vernova, the S&P 500’s second-biggest decliner, is in talks to potentially sell its industrial software business, Proficy. The energy industry company’s shares were down around 7%, while nuclear energy providers Constellation and Vistra fell 5% each. The major U.S. indexes were in retreat, with GEV stock nearly tripling over the past 12 months due to AI-driven energy demand.

GE Vernova is reportedly considering selling Proficy for $900 million to $1 billion. The company did not respond to requests for comment. This news comes as GEV, Constellation, and Vistra have seen significant gains in the past year, driven by the rise of artificial intelligence and increased energy demand.
