UPS is offering voluntary buyouts to its full-time U.S. drivers in the largest network reconfiguration in its history, closing 73 facilities and cutting 20,000 jobs. The move follows a reduction in deliveries for its key customer, Amazon.com, and Trump’s tariffs. The Teamsters union calls the buyout plans a violation of the national contract.UPS said it intends to adhere to the terms of its contract with the union, despite the pushback from the Teamsters. The buyout package includes retirement benefits such as pension and healthcare. UPS had previously committed to creating 22,500 more jobs, but the union is fighting to protect its members from being sold out.
