Rivian Automotive saw a significant drop in second-quarter deliveries due to stiff competition and trade tariffs, with vehicle costs rising. Sales were impacted by high interest rates and a shift towards cheaper hybrid and gasoline-powered cars. The company delivered 10,661 vehicles, down 22.7% from the previous year. Rivian’s production of 5,979 units fell short of expectations, as it prepares to launch new models. Despite challenges, Rivian maintains its annual delivery forecast of 40,000 to 46,000 vehicles.
