Turkish authorities blocked access to PancakeSwap and other crypto websites

The Capital Markets Board of Turkey blocked access to 46 websites offering unauthorized crypto services, including PancakeSwap and Cryptoradar. PancakeSwap reported over $325 billion in June trading volume, but it’s unclear how authorities deemed it unauthorized. Regulators in various countries have cracked down on similar websites for unregistered activity.
Turkey’s Capital Markets Board has had regulatory control over crypto asset service providers since March. Crypto users in Turkey must provide identifying information for transactions over $425. While residents can buy, hold, and trade cryptocurrencies, the country banned using digital assets for payments in 2021. A local law firm planned to challenge the ban in May.
