Fortune Magazine: Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck produces NBC sitcom ‘Extended Family’ about himself
From Fortune Magazine:
Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck’s life has become the inspiration for “Extended Family,” a sitcom premiering on NBC. The show deals with a love triangle between Grousbeck, his new wife, and her ex-husband. The premise, inspired by the real-life relationship dynamics, follows the choice of “nesting” by the parents after divorcing in order to minimize the impact on their children. The show’s characters interact similarly to the real-life individuals they are based on. It is created under the guidance of TV veteran Tom Werner, with input from Grousbeck and the other real-life people. The Celtics name and other NBA intellectual property, including external shots of the TD Garden and scenes taking place in the arena, are used in the show. The pilot was shot during the 2022 NBA Finals, and the show has been picked up for 13 episodes, scheduled to move into a regular timeslot on Tuesday nights at 8:30 p.m. EST starting Jan. 2.
