Bira 91 re-enters Uttar Pradesh with new brewery, aiming for double-digit market share

Bira 91 re-enters Uttar Pradesh with a new manufacturing partnership and plans for a local brewery, committing over $2 billion towards the project. The company aims to dominate the premium beer segment in the state, targeting double-digit market share within the next 24 months.

The market in Uttar Pradesh has grown significantly for Bira 91, increasing from 3.5% of national sales in 2018 to an estimated 12-13% in 2025. The brand will reintroduce popular products like Bira 91 Boom, Rise, White, and Gold in major cities across the state to capitalize on this growth.

Ankur Jain, founder and CEO of B9 Beverages, expressed confidence in the company’s turnaround and growth, highlighting a 65% CAGR over the past decade. The upcoming UP brewery is seen as a key step in bringing the brand’s vision to life in India’s most populous state.

The new facility is expected to be operational by 2026, enabling local production, reducing lead times, and improving profitability in Uttar Pradesh. Bira 91 views the state as a crucial market for its expansion plans and sees the brewery as a strategic move to further establish its presence in the region.
