CoreWeave to acquire Core Scientific for $9bn, expanding data center presence
US-based cloud infrastructure company CoreWeave is set to acquire Core Scientific in a $9bn all-stock deal to expand its data center presence. Core Scientific stockholders will receive 0.1235 newly issued shares of CoreWeave Class A common stock for each share they hold. This acquisition will give CoreWeave control over 1.3GW of gross power and potential for 1GW of expansion, allowing for cost savings and operational streamlining. The deal aims to enhance AI and HPC workloads at scale, with the transaction expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025 pending regulatory approval and consent from Core Scientific stockholders.
