Tallinna Sadam Sees Growth in Cargo and Passengers in Q2 2025

In the second quarter of 2025, Tallinna Sadam saw a 3.8% increase in passenger numbers and an 8% increase in cargo volume compared to the previous year. The total cargo throughput was 3.5 million tonnes, with 2.2 million passengers passing through the port. The growth was driven by European project cargo and bulk shipments of grains, gravel, and wood pellets. The number of cruise ship visits increased by 46%, while the icebreaker Botnica’s working days decreased by 63%.

The statistics for the second quarter of 2025 show significant growth in liquid bulk cargo (37%) and bulk cargo (34%). Passenger numbers on the Tallinn-Helsinki route grew by 4.3%, and cruise passengers increased by 25%, including visitors from China, the US, and Japan. The number of ship visits increased for cruise ships (46%), cargo ships (4.5%), and passenger ships (0.6%).

Tallinna Sadam’s CEO, Valdo Kalm, highlighted the positive growth trend in cargo and passenger numbers in the second quarter. The company’s ferry services experienced a 2.4% increase in passengers and a 3.4% increase in vehicles, despite a 1.5% decrease in the number of trips. The icebreaker Botnica’s working days and utilization rate decreased by 63%.
