IHH Healthcare Expanding into Indonesia and Vietnam to Combat Rising Costs
IHH Healthcare plans to expand into Indonesia and Vietnam to combat rising care costs in the region. The company sees opportunities in Indonesia’s healthcare reforms and foreign ownership rules, as well as Vietnam’s growing market. IHH is also focusing on acquisitions and bulk procurement to manage import costs and increase bed capacity in existing markets.
Despite challenges in China’s competitive healthcare sector, IHH aims to solidify its presence by leveraging its clinic business. The company reported a revenue increase but a profit drop due to accounting adjustments. IHH anticipates India to be a significant revenue source and plans to develop out-of-hospital care facilities to mitigate cost pressures.
IHH is the only foreign operator in China with a combination of clinics, aiming to build on this advantage. The company also looks to appeal to Malaysia’s Health Ministry to change regulations preventing hospital operators from managing other healthcare facilities, with hopes of expanding significantly into the out-of-hospital sector.
