In midday trading on Friday, energy companies are leading the pack with a 0.6% increase. Halliburton (HAL) and Baker Hughes (BKR) are standout performers, up 3.4% and 2.3% respectively. The Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) is also up 0.6% for the day and 5.89% year-to-date. In comparison, HAL is down 14.45% YTD while BKR is up 0.16% YTD, making up 4.2% of XLE’s holdings. The Financial sector is the next best performer, losing only 0.4%. Ventas Inc (VTR) and Welltower Inc (WELL) are top gainers, up 2.7% and 1.3% respectively.

Looking at S&P 500 components, Energy is up 0.6% while Financials are down 0.4%. Utilities, Services, Industrial, Consumer Products, Technology & Communications, Materials, and Healthcare sectors are all down as well. It’s a mixed bag in afternoon trading on Friday, with only one sector showing gains.
