Australian supermarket Woolworths is expanding its Scan&Go trolley to 25 more stores in NSW, VIC, and QLD after successful trials. The digital solution lets customers scan and bag items while tracking spending. Over 70% of users are repeat customers, with young families finding it helps budgeting. The trolleys are now in various stores in the three states.

The Scan&Go trolley is an advancement of existing technology, providing a more convenient shopping experience without requiring mobile devices. Shoppers can use their Everyday Rewards card to unlock a tablet-style device attached to the trolley, allowing them to monitor their budget on the screen. The trolley seamlessly integrates digital and in-store experiences.

Woolworths Group reported a net sales figure of A$17.31bn ($11.14bn) for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025. The expansion of the Scan&Go trolley is part of Woolworths’ efforts to provide customers with convenient shopping options, alongside traditional in-store shopping, self-service, pick-up, and online delivery.
