Two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies admit to aiding private security clients, including jailed crypto extorter “The Godfather.” David Anthony Rodriguez pleads guilty to conspiracy against rights, while Christopher Michael Cadman admits to conspiracy against rights and false tax return. Cadman and another deputy intimidated and threatened one of Iza’s adversaries, holding the victim at gunpoint during a meeting. The victim transferred $25,000 to Iza’s account in response. Cadman could face up to 13 years in prison and will appear in federal court soon. Iza pleaded guilty to conspiracy against rights, wire fraud, and tax evasion in January.
Iza hired Rodriguez to obtain search warrants unlawfully for his clients. Rodriguez lied to a judge to get a search warrant in July 2022 for a client’s phone location. He shared it with another deputy, Eric Chase Saavedra. Rodriguez faces up to 10 years in prison, Saavedra faces up to 13 years. Source: Los Angeles US Attorney’s Office.
Iza referred to the deputies as his “pawns” and bragged about paying them up to $280,000 a month. He tried to coerce a victim to hand over a laptop holding crypto by using police information. Iza’s ex-girlfriend agreed to plead guilty to a false tax return for failing to report over $2.6 million in ill-gotten gains obtained via Iza’s criminal activities. Source: CourtListener.
