Corn prices opened lower but recovered, with gains of 1 to 4 cents midday. July futures had 69 deliveries. Export data showed corn shipments down 17.7%, but still up 17.06% from last year. Top destinations include Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. Rains expected in Corn Belt. Trump announced 30% tariff on EU and Mexico.
Speculators reduced net short position in corn futures by 2,602 contracts. Commercial net short position increased. Brazilian corn crop 40% harvested, well below last year.
