Meta Platforms, led by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, plans to invest “hundreds of billions of dollars” to build AI “superintelligence.” The first AI data center “supercluster” is set to come online in 2026. Meta’s first facility, Prometheus, will have over a gigawatt of capacity, with plans for others like Hyperion to reach up to five gigawatts. Amid frustration with Meta’s AI progress, Zuckerberg delayed the launch of the Llama 4 large language model. Despite this, Meta’s stock edged 0.5% higher to close under $721, having gained close to a quarter of its value in 2025. Zuckerberg’s focus on superintelligence underscores the company’s commitment to AI development.
