Wells Fargo is expanding its healthcare team within its commercial bank after the $1.95 trillion asset cap on the bank was lifted. The team has grown by more than 30% in 2025, adding over five employees nationwide. The bank aims to continue expanding its industry-specialized banking services across key U.S. markets.
Mary Katherine DuBose, who leads Wells Fargo’s Commercial banking’s specialized industries group, stated that healthcare banking is a priority sector for the bank. CFO Michael Santomassimo sees the middle market and commercial bank space as a growth area after a profitable second quarter. CEO Charlie Scharf noted a 25% increase in the technology team of bankers and a 10% rise in branch-based financial advisors.
