BP has agreed to sell its U.S. onshore wind business to LS Power as part of its divestment strategy, without disclosing the deal value. The company aims to cut debt, increase cash flow, and pivot back to oil and gas. Analysts speculate the deal may be worth less than typical multiples for onshore wind assets.
BP targets $3-4 billion in disposals by year-end and $20 billion by 2027. In March, it struck a $1 billion deal with Apollo to sell its stake in a firm invested in the TANAP gas pipeline. The acquisition will increase Clearlight Energy’s operating fleet to about 4,300 megawatts. Shares rose 1.9%.
