Indian cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX experienced a $44 million security breach from hackers compromising an internal account used for liquidity operations with a partner exchange. CEO Sumit Gupta confirmed the breach, stating customer assets were untouched and contained. The attack involved crypto mixing and bridging stolen funds. CoinDCX is investigating with cybersecurity partners.
The breach occurred one year after WazirX, another Indian exchange, was hacked for $235 million. CoinDCX is collaborating with cybersecurity partners and exchange partners to freeze and recover assets. The stolen funds were traced through a crypto mixing service and bridged between Solana and Ethereum. The exchange assures customer assets are secure in cold wallets.
