India’s largest crypto exchange, CoinDCX, confirmed a recent security breach where hackers stole millions in crypto from an internal operational account. The breach did not affect customer funds, with over $44.2 million drained from CoinDCX’s coffers. The exchange is working with CERT-In and partner exchanges to investigate the matter.

ZachXBT reported that the attacker funded an address with 1ETH and bridged stolen funds from Solana to Ethereum. CoinDCX confirmed the loss amount of 4,443 Ethereum and 155,830 Solana, currently dormant. The exchange launched a recovery bounty program to trace and retrieve the stolen crypto and catch the attackers.

CoinDCX CEO Sumit Gupta assured that customer assets are secure and isolated the affected operational account. The exchange, with over 16 million users, offers access to 500+ crypto assets. This breach follows a similar incident at WazirX a year ago, resulting in a $230 million loss. It remains unclear if there are connections between the two incidents.
