European stocks closed higher on Wednesday as hopes for a U.S.-EU trade deal grew following trade agreements with Japan and the Philippines. The U.S.-Japan deal includes a 15% tariff on Japanese exports and a $550 billion investment in the U.S. The EU-U.S. talks are set to take place soon. Informa’s stock rose 5% after raising revenue guidance and announcing share buybacks. JD Sports Fashion and AstraZeneca also saw gains, while Centrica and SSE fell. In Germany, Daimler, Porsche, and Volkswagen were among the top gainers, while SAP and Infineon saw losses. Stellantis and Kering led gains in Paris. Alstom and STMicroElectronics experienced mixed results. Thales reported higher net income for the first half and expects improved margins by 2025. Engie and Veolia Environment ended lower.
