Many big shipping companies will now double pay for crew sailing through the now-perilous Red Sea

The shipping industry in Denmark agreed to double wages for crew sailing through the Red Sea due to recent attacks. Hazard pay applies in high-risk areas according to an agreement between Danish Shipping and labor unions. Major companies such as Maersk are preparing to resume shipping that route, but half of the fleet is still avoiding it. Denmark will send a warship to participate in a US-led mission to the Red Sea to bolster security.
