Victor Lazarte, a venture capitalist at Benchmark, is leaving to start his own investment firm. He co-founded Wildlife Studios, valued at $3 billion in 2020. Lazarte invested in Mercor, HeyGen, and Decart AI during his time at Benchmark. He is the second investor to leave Benchmark this year, with remaining partners including Peter Fenton, Eric Vishria, and Chetan Puttagunta. Benchmark operates as an equal partnership, with all general partners sharing fees and returns equally.
