Boeing Sees Complete Return of 737 MAX in China’s Skies in 2023

From Quiver Quant:

In January 2023, Boeing announced that all 737 MAX jets had returned to service with Chinese airlines. Nearly 100 planes have resumed operations, marking a significant milestone for Boeing and China civil aviation. This reintegration paves the way for potential delivery resumption, which is a key financial and diplomatic win for Boeing. Recent safety checks on MAX jets followed reports of a loose bolt issue, but airlines like Ryanair and Southwest have reported no significant problems. Boeing is also focusing on resuming MAX deliveries to China and managing ongoing safety concerns.

Boeing’s activities hint at a potential thaw in the MAX delivery freeze to China. This optimism grew after the recent 787 Dreamliner delivery to China, the first since 2019, and the delivery of eight 777 freighters to Chinese customers through November. However, Boeing is dealing with a recent safety issue involving loose bolts in the rudder control system of the 737 MAX. Major operators of the model, such as Ryanair, Southwest Airlines, and FlyDubai, have completed inspections with no significant operational impact reported.
