Hedge funds Citadel LLC and Point72 Asset Management increased their holdings in spot Bitcoin ETFs during the first quarter as cryptocurrency prices surged. Citadel, founded by Ken Griffin, bought shares and options in various Bitcoin ETFs, including the $88 billion iShares Bitcoin Trust. Point72, founded by Steven Cohen, boosted its IBIT holdings by 1.4 million shares. Investors have poured $19.4 billion into Bitcoin ETFs this year as the price of Bitcoin hit an all-time high of over $123,000. Citadel also bought other Bitcoin ETFs and sold off stakes in certain funds.
