Over 170 reports were expected on Nasdaq, with big earnings reports from companies like Visa, Boeing, and UnitedHealth. S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price, JOLTs job openings, and consumer confidence data were released.

Cadence Design Systems led the S&P 500 with a 10.4% surge after strong earnings. United Parcel Service was the biggest laggard, down 9.4% due to revenue declines. Carrier Global and Brown & Brown also fell 9% post-earnings. Pharma stocks like Merck and Eli Lilly tumbled, with Novo Nordisk leading market losers, down 20%.

Corning topped the S&P 500 with a 13.3% increase, thanks to strong earnings. Apple saw rumors of a foldable iPhone, while PayPal reported earnings beating estimates but saw a decline in transaction margin dollars. Venmo grew 20% year-over-year. Visa, Booking Holdings, Starbucks, and Mondelez were among the top ten earnings after hours.
