Polish food and drink giant Maspex Group acquires Romania-listed Pucari Wineries for $136m through voluntary takeover bid. Maspex now holds 72.8% stake in Pucari, aiming to strengthen its presence in the alcoholic beverages sector and expand regionally. Pucari is a major wine producer in central and eastern Europe.

Maspex CEO Krzysztof Pawiński emphasizes the strategic acquisition of Purcari Wineries, a leading producer of premium wines in Central and Eastern Europe. The goal is to develop Purcari as a strong international player. General manager Grzegorz Grabowski plans to capitalize on operational and market synergies.

Pucari reported revenue of 382.5m lei in 2024, with EBITDA up 7% at 107.4m lei. Net profit decreased by 10% due to one-off costs. The company, with over 1,450ha of vineyards, forecasts a 12-17% revenue increase in 2025. First quarter of 2025 saw revenue rise by 12%.

Maspex’s acquisition of majority control of Purcari Wineries signals a strategic move to expand its presence in the alcoholic beverages sector and strengthen its regional portfolio.
