Investors in the Avantis Emerging Markets Equity ETF (AVEM) now have increased exposure to Nio Inc. (NIO) as the ETF disclosed owning 911,470 shares of Nio at the end of May, up 49% from the previous filing in April. This marks 21 consecutive quarters of buying Nio shares for AVEM.

AVEM, an actively managed fund launched in 2019, focuses on emerging market stocks to increase expected returns by overweighting undervalued securities. Despite the recent increase in Nio ownership, AVEM’s top holdings include Taiwan Semiconductor, Tencent Holdings, and Alibaba Group, with a 20.6% YTD return.

AVEM has seen strong inflows in 2025, with over $2.5 billion coming in during the first six months, accounting for a quarter of net inflows into the EM category. The fund’s strategy involves investing in Chinese companies with attractive valuation and profitability characteristics to outperform the market.

As the EV market continues to grow, more firms are offering ways for investors to bet big on EVs. In April, GraniteShares launched two leveraged, single-stock ETFs providing daily leveraged exposure to EV stocks, catering to investors looking to capitalize on the booming EV industry.
