DayOne and Gaw Capital Partners have commenced construction on a data centre project in Japan. Located within Gaw Capital’s 80MW data centre campus at Fuchu Intelligent Park near Tokyo, the project’s first phase will feature a nine-storey building with ten data halls providing 18MW of IT capacity, set to be ready by mid-2027. NEC Facilities and HASEKO are involved in the project.
The facility aims to integrate advanced cooling systems and renewable energy resources to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency. DayOne CEO Jamie Khoo stated that the campus will support the growth of cloud, AI, and next-gen technologies in Japan and the region, expanding the company’s global platform.
DayOne specializes in developing digital infrastructure for major industry players, with operations in key locations across Asia. The company recently initiated a data centre project in Singapore focused on AI and high-performance workloads, set to be completed in 2026 using green infrastructure and hydrogen-based power generation.
Officially launched in 2025 following Series B funding, DayOne has emerged as an independent entity with approximately $1.9bn secured through financing rounds supported by investors like SoftBank Vision Fund and Kenneth Griffin of Citadel. The construction project was reported by World Construction Network.
