Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals highlighted a preclinical study on the antitumor effects of plogosertib, a PLK1 inhibitor, in biliary tract cancer (BTC). The study found that BTC cells with high BUBR1 expression were more sensitive to plogosertib, suggesting it could be an effective treatment for BTC. BTC is a rare and aggressive cancer with a poor prognosis, and current treatment options are not curative. Plogosertib, a selective PLK1 inhibitor, has shown promise in preclinical studies and early clinical trials, demonstrating efficacy in several types of cancers, including BTC.
