Police probe possible negligence in Tokyo runway collision

A collision between a Japan Airlines (JAL) Airbus A350 and a De Havilland Dash-8 Coast Guard plane at Haneda International Airport in Tokyo has left five of six Coast Guard crew dead. 379 passengers on the JAL plane miraculously escaped. The crash is under police investigation to determine possible professional negligence and runway procedures. The pilot and first officer jurors recovered from the coast guard aircraft. Airbus and Britain’s Rolls-Royce are sending technical advisors as Japan’s transport authorities launch investigations. The airplane burned for over six hours and will now be removed from the site of the accident.
