Transcat, Inc. has acquired Essco Calibration Laboratory for $84 million, the largest acquisition in its history. Essco, based in the Boston area, generates over $22 million in annual revenue and serves various industries. The deal is expected to bring sales and cost synergies, making the merged unit the company’s highest-revenue location. Transcat CEO Lee Rudow sees this as a strategic move to enhance their market position. Essco owner Mike Walsh expressed confidence in the deal, citing Transcat’s commitment to quality.
