Microsoft adds AI button to keyboards to call up chatbot
From Nasdaq:
Microsoft is adding a “Copilot key” to its Windows keyboard, a move signaling the incorporation of AI technology in its products. AI-capable PCs are expected to help revive the post-pandemic slump for personal computers, with research firm Canalys predicting speedy adoption from 2025 onwards.
The introduction of the “Copilot key” button will be seen on new Windows 11 PCs at the CES technology trade show this month and will be available on upcoming Surface devices after February.
Introduced in November, Copilot works across Microsoft web and productivity apps and is said to be capable of summarizing texts and virtual meetings, among other tasks. This step underscores the company’s ambition for AI-enabled PCs. Analysts say the move could help revitalize the personal computer market after the post-pandemic slump, with AI-capable PCs set to take off from 2025 onwards.
