Pentair plc announced it will acquire Hydra-Stop LLC, a U.S.-based valve solutions maker, in a $290 million cash deal, with a net transaction value of around $240 million after tax benefits. Hydra-Stop, owned by Madison Industries, generates nearly all its sales in the U.S. and is expected to reach $50 million in sales by 2025.
The acquisition is poised to enhance Pentair’s existing solutions and support the water needs of growing cities. It will strengthen Pentair’s commercial and infrastructure business by expanding solutions that help maintain water flow and limit losses. De’Mon Wiggins, Pentair’s executive vice president, called it a strategic move aligning with the company’s mission.
Pending regulatory approval, the deal is set to close by the end of 2025, with Hydra-Stop becoming part of Pentair’s Commercial and Infrastructure unit. Pentair had cash and cash equivalents of $143 million as of June 30, 2025. Investors can access the sector through Invesco Water Resources ETF (PHO) and First Trust Water ETF (FIW).
PNR stock closed at $104.98 on Friday, a 1.55% decline. The acquisition is seen as a step towards sustainable water flow in growing cities.
