Google, Kairos Power, TVA Nexus Nuclear Energy Pact

Google (GOOGL) has teamed up with Kairos Power and TVA to boost clean energy with a first-of-its-kind agreement. TVA will purchase up to 50 MW of electricity from Kairos Power’s Hermes 2 reactor in Tennessee by 2030, marking a breakthrough for next-generation nuclear technology.

The Hermes 2 project, now expanded to 50 MW, will accelerate deployment to meet demand. Google will receive the plant’s clean energy attributes through TVA, supporting its goal to secure 500 MW of advanced nuclear capacity by 2035 for data centers in Tennessee and Alabama.

Google and Kairos will share development risks for the project, using innovative liquid salt coolant and modular design to reduce costs. TVA CEO Don Moul sees the agreement as a new way to strengthen energy security, support innovation, and provide reliable clean power for the future.

This partnership is a significant move in revitalizing America’s nuclear industry and supporting Google’s goal of carbon-free energy for AI-driven growth. The deal reflects a new approach to nuclear energy and signifies a shift towards cleaner, more sustainable power sources.
