Hedge fund manager Boaz Weinstein is expanding Saba Capital Management with two new senior partners to focus on quantitative credit trading. Jeremy Benkiewicz, a co-founder of the firm, will rejoin in February, bringing expertise in credit trading. Kieran Goodwin will lead the move into quantitative credit trading.

Saba Capital Management plans to launch a systematic trading strategy called Saba LT later this year. The strategy aims to identify credit dislocations and capitalize on the increasing electronification of corporate bond trading. The firm previously hired quant traders Robert Rappleye and David Buckman from hedge fund Jane Street to lay the groundwork for expansion.

Weinstein, known for his bet against the London Whale trader at JPMorgan Chase, has been focusing on shaking up the closed-end fund industry. He has reached agreements with several closed-end funds and continues to push for better returns. Competition for talent in the hedge fund industry is fierce, with top managers commanding high pay packages.

Weinstein, who gained fame for spotting unusual trading patterns by the London Whale in 2012, has a history of successful investments. He previously won a stock picking contest in high school and has been dedicated to capturing market upside while minimizing losses for investors.
