German vegan health foods company Vetain has switched to Sonoco’s paper-based GreenCan packaging for its protein powders and supplements, aiming for sustainability with at least 96% paper content. The new packaging is recyclable and now available in the German market.
Vetain’s collaboration with Sonoco began in 2023, leading to the adoption of GreenCan with a paper end for fully recyclable packaging. Co-founder Philipp Riedl emphasizes sustainability as a key aspect of the brand, enhancing the company’s image and customer satisfaction.
Vetain, founded in 2021 by athletes Luca Gruber and Riedl, has reached over 200,000 customers in Europe. The company’s product range includes protein powder, bars, nut butters, and supplements, with an annual turnover of €20m ($23.3m) and 23 employees.
Sonoco Europe consumer senior sales manager Oliver Kock highlights Vetain’s commitment to sustainability, transitioning from GreenCan with a metal end to a paper end for full recyclability. Customers can now recycle the entire can, reducing the company’s ecological footprint.
