Hertz partners with Amazon to sell pre-owned vehicles in the US, expanding its retail operations. Customers can browse and purchase Hertz cars on Amazon Autos, with plans to scale to 45 locations nationwide. Amazon adds Hertz as its first fleet dealer, offering vehicles from top brands like Ford and Toyota.

Hertz’s move into online car sales comes as it continues its turnaround efforts post-bankruptcy in 2020. CEO Gil West unveiled a strategy focused on fleet management and cost controls. The Rent2Buy program, allowing customers to rent before purchase, is expected to expand to over 100 cities this year, driving retail vehicle sales.

Hertz’s goal is to reimagine the car-buying experience through Amazon, meeting customers where they are. The company’s retail vehicle sales in the first quarter of 2025 were its strongest ever. The partnership with Amazon comes as Hertz works to diversify revenue streams and improve its operations post-bankruptcy.
