Alaska Airlines has introduced a $395-a-year premium credit card called Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite, co-branded with Bank of America, offering perks like airport lounge passes and global companion fares. The new combined frequent flyer program with Hawaiian Airlines provides travelers with different ways to earn points based on distance, price, or flights taken.

Under the new Atmos program, elite frequent flyer tiers have changed, requiring travelers to earn more points to reach the top levels. Alaska plans to launch international routes on wide-body aircraft from Seattle, while keeping its brand separate from Hawaiian. The airline aims to attract higher-spending customers with loyalty hurdles and exclusive benefits like lounge access.

Alaska Airlines is focusing on providing premium experiences for its most loyal and frequent travelers. The airline is building new lounges at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and San Diego International Airport to cater to international long-haul flyers. To avoid overcrowding, the Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite card includes eight lounge passes a year.

JetBlue Airways launched a $499 premium credit card earlier this year, following the trend of airlines raising fees and adding perks to attract more cardholders. Alaska Airlines plans to offer complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi to loyalty program members, following Hawaiian Airlines’ deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX in 2022.
