REC Silicon ASA reported a narrowed loss in the second quarter despite decreased revenue. The Norwegian silicon producer’s net loss decreased to $6.9 million from $50.7 million a year ago. EBIT loss narrowed to $0.6 million from $4.4 million, with an EBIT margin of negative 3.2%. EBITDA improved to $4.9 million from a loss of $1.5 million, with a margin of 24.4%. Revenue decreased to $19.9 million due to lower sales volume of polysilicon. CEO Kurt Levens highlighted financial challenges, including lower sales, operating expenses, interest payments, tariffs, and demand uncertainty. Additional capital is expected to be needed.
