Avanse Financial Services Ltd., backed by Warburg Pincus, may delay its IPO due to slowing loan demand caused by stricter US visa rules. The Mumbai-based company is monitoring the overseas loan market before deciding on the share sale. Avanse provides education financing in 50 countries, with 57% of its international loans going to students studying in the US.
The Trump administration’s immigration policies have significantly reduced student arrivals to the US, impacting Avanse’s business plan. The company planned to raise $115 million in an IPO, with existing investors including Warburg Pincus looking to sell shares worth $250 million. Avanse secured a $200 million syndicated loan to strengthen its funding sources.
Avanse’s IPO plans have been affected by the drop in Indian students studying in the US. The company provides customized loans to students in over 1,650 educational institutions globally. Avanse’s investors include Warburg Pincus, Kedaara Capital, and the International Finance Corp. They had planned to sell shares worth $250 million in the IPO.
