Waymo has been granted a permit to test its autonomous vehicles in New York City, marking the first such approval by the city. The company plans to start testing “immediately.”

Serve Robotics acquired Vayu Robotics, a startup specializing in AI foundation models for robots, for an estimated $45-50 million. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Nuro, a key player in autonomous vehicle tech, raised $203 million in a Series E round with backing from Nvidia and others. Uber’s undisclosed “multimillion-dollar” investment in Nuro is more than the $300 million it invested in Lucid.

Group14, a battery materials startup, secured $463 million in funding led by SK. The company also announced acquiring full ownership of a joint venture with SK in South Korea.

Hertz is set to sell preowned vehicles on Amazon Autos. Redwood Materials collaborates with Caterpillar to recycle battery packs from the company’s battery-electric underground loaders.

Volkswagen faces a lawsuit over the sensitivity of buttons on its cars’ steering wheels. The lawsuit claims the buttons are too easy to activate unintentionally, potentially causing safety issues.
