Equinor and partners have discovered oil and gas in the Fram area of the North Sea, with estimated resources ranging from 0.1 to 1.1 million standard cubic metres. The well, named F-South, is located near the Troll field and has reservoir properties rated from moderate to very good.
Equinor plans to further explore the area and potentially encounter more oil and gas. The licensees, including Equinor Energy, Vår Energi, and INPEX Idemitsu Norge, are evaluating options to connect F-South to existing or future infrastructure. The well was drilled by the COSL Innovator rig in production license 090.
In addition to the Fram area discovery, Equinor Energy and partners reported a substantial gas discovery in the Skred prospect of the Barents Sea. The development plan for the Fram South development, which includes discoveries like Echino South and Blasto, was submitted to authorities in June 2025.
