Discount chain Aldi Belgium is making the switch from paper price labels to digital tags in all stores for efficiency and enhanced shopping experiences. The transition will start in East and West Flanders, with all 445 stores in Belgium set to have electronic labels by 2025.

The digital displays will be color-coded: red for promotions, white for regular prices, black for new items, and yellow for loyalty program products. Aldi Belgium’s sales manager highlighted the efficiency of digital price adjustments, allowing savings to be reinvested in maintaining low prices.

Aldi is not only upgrading to digital price tags but also renovating its Oudergem store in Belgium as part of the Côté Colinne project. The store’s expansion aims to provide a better shopping experience and showcase sustainable practices with natural refrigerants and energy-saving systems.

The revamped Oudergem store will offer a larger sales area, fresh products, and weekly promotions. The design will focus on accessibility and sustainability, with a reopening planned for the end of 2027. Nearby Aldi locations will serve customers during the renovation period.

Aldi’s commitment to offering affordable prices was recognized when it was named the UK’s cheapest supermarket in June 2025, outperforming competitors like Lidl by 35p. This achievement further solidifies Aldi’s reputation as a budget-friendly shopping destination.
