Aehr Test Systems received an evaluation order from a top AI chip supplier to test their wafer-level burn-in technology in Fremont, CA. The custom WaferPak contactor will compare results to the supplier’s current process over a 3-6 month period, marking an important milestone for future product development.
This wafer-level screening process helps identify defective chips before packaging, improving yields and reducing costs. The FOX-XP system can process up to 18 wafers at once and has been used for silicon carbide power semiconductors and photonics chips. Demand for reliable large-scale testing solutions is growing in data centers and cloud computing.
Aehr Test Systems’ stock surged after the evaluation order, reflecting strong interest in AI hardware. A major cloud giant also placed a separate order for their test systems, indicating momentum in the sector. Investors can consider exposure to the sector through VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) and iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX).
AEHR shares were trading higher by 8.58% to $26.70 premarket on Tuesday. The company’s collaboration with a top AI chip supplier for wafer-level burn-in testing highlights advancements in next-generation products and potential growth opportunities in the AI hardware sector.
