Sandvik Mining has launched the AutoMine Surface Drilling Training Simulator to enhance operator skills and improve automated drilling efficiency. Compatible with i-series surface drill rigs, the simulator provides realistic training tailored to modern mining needs. It allows trainees to operate up to three rigs simultaneously, focusing on key tasks and safety systems.

The simulator features realistic camera views and virtual modules for AutoMine operations training. It is compact, portable, and designed for easy relocation and rapid setup. Operating as a stand-alone unit, it contributes to sustainability efforts by reducing fuel consumption, equipment wear, and carbon emissions. The portable design supports global deployment for consistent training standards.

Compatible with AutoMine Operator Stations, the simulator offers a structured training programme covering all AutoMine aspects. Sandvik Mining head of Learning Solutions Automation, Anu Pyysalo, stated that the simulator bridges the gap from classroom to operational readiness, accelerating learning and ensuring operators are prepared to manage automated systems effectively. Sandvik also launched AutoMine Surface Fleet to support the management of i-series drill rigs from any connected location.
