Despite weak GDP data, the Canadian market is up with stocks in materials and healthcare sectors leading the gains. The S&P/TSX Composite Index is up 0.46% at 28,566.15. Corus Entertainment is up over 11%, while BRP Inc. gained 9% in the second quarter. However, Laurentian Bank is down over 4%. The Canadian GDP contracted by 1.6% in the second quarter of 2025, missing market expectations. Canada’s real GDP in July edged up 0.1%, following three straight monthly declines. Stocks like Canopy Growth, Tilray, and Aurora Cannabis are down, as well as Celestica and Quebecor.
