The U.S. Department of Commerce removes Intel Semiconductor (Dalian) Ltd., Samsung China Semiconductor Co. Ltd., and SK hynix Semiconductor (China) Ltd. from the Validated End-User program. These companies will now need case-by-case licenses to import U.S. semiconductor equipment into their Chinese operations. Approximately 1,000 additional license applications are expected annually due to this change. This is part of U.S. efforts to tighten export controls and limit China’s access to advanced chip technologies. Intel’s Dalian fab in China will require new export licenses for U.S. equipment.
