A survey by Choice Mutual reveals that most young Americans rely on family inheritance to shape their future. Two-thirds expect to inherit an average of $334,850. Many plan to save or invest the money, use it for housing or debt, and discuss it with their parents.

73% anticipate inheriting cash, while 69% expect real estate. Despite optimism, 53% worry about financially supporting aging parents. Financial stress affects their future plans and causes anxiety. Some even resent their parents’ financial position.

Anticipated inheritances affect current lifestyles, with some carrying more debt in expectation of paying it off later. Experts project a $100 trillion wealth transfer to younger generations over the next 25 years, but not every family will benefit equally.
